Urban Science Brass Band reinvents hip-hop classics with contagious intensity. Whether in festive parades or electrifying stage performances, every show becomes an interactive experience where the energy is always at its peak.
Imagine a brass band inspired by the New Orleans tradition—trumpets, saxophones, trombones, sousaphones, tubas—tackling repertoires ranging from Dr. Dre to Kendrick Lamar with bold flair. Add multilingual MCs and roaming drummers, and the result is a unique, explosive, and unifying show.
Made up of some of Montreal’s most sought-after musicians, the group brings together artists who have collaborated with Talib Kweli, Nelly, KRS-One, Illa J, Snarky Puppy, Erik Truffaz, Bran Van 3000, and Imhothep (IAM).
Their talent has earned them several distinctions, including the End of the Weak world title (2016) and six King of the Dot awards. The band has also performed on The Tonight Show and developed artistic partnerships with Soultone Cymbals and Dream Cymbals.
Since 2017, Urban Science Brass Band has been regularly invited as a resident act at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Their work was also featured in the documentary Vacations of the Brave, available on Amazon Prime.
