
Basia Bulat is a singer-songwriter based in Montreal, Canada. She has a distinctive voice, and her music draws inspiration from gospel and soul as well as classic folk. In addition to her powerful vocals, Bulat is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, playing electric guitar, piano, autoharp, ukulele, bass, and charango.
Since the release of her debut album in 2007, she has shared the stage with artists such as St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The National, Michael Kiwanuka, Daniel Lanois, Beirut, Destroyer, US Girls, Jim James, and many others. She has performed as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, appeared as a musical guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for the #LateShowMeMusic series, and on Later with Jools Holland, and has been featured by The Needle Drop, The New York Times, and various other publications. Bulat has been a three-time finalist for the Polaris Music Prize and has received five JUNO Award nominations.
