La Grand-Messe was born in the summer of 2015, founded by Jean-Philip Pothier, a devoted Cowboys Fringants fan and a 2009 graduate of the École de la chanson de Granby. Last fall, the longtime singer-songwriter saw a childhood dream come true when Les Cowboys Fringants invited him to perform at the launch of their album Octobre. This bold idea turned out to be a resounding success, with La Grand-Messe winning over both Les Cowboys Fringants and their fans alike.
La Grand-Messe also brings together young musicians and close friends who have shared the stage with Jean-Philip for over five years. Part of the group’s core was formed at Cégep de Saint-Laurent, and its members now pursue music studies at the Université de Montréal and UQAM. Together, this tight-knit group has performed over a hundred shows across the province, including four Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebrations.
Fueled by years of friendship and musical chemistry, the band now aims to bring people together to celebrate the great francophone classics of Les Cowboys Fringants. With their high-energy, festive performances, you won’t be able to resist dancing and singing along at the top of your lungs with La Grand-Messe!
Don’t miss La Grand-Messe on Saturday, June 26th, on the Port de Trois-Rivières Dock stage starting at 11:00 p.m.
