We have to go back as far as 2018 to find the early seeds of what would, against all odds, become Mario2, the band. A group destined to never actually make music, they ended up falling into their own trap and now present the album Perpetual European Style Freshness: 12 songs that delicately capture the absurdity of our era through sharp observations, necessary critiques, and above all, an unmatched sense of urgency.
Mario2 is made up of Princess (Karolane Carbonneau), Luigi (Simon Angell), and Toad (Antoine Corriveau), each of whom has respectively won a Juno Award, a Polaris Prize, and a primary school drawing contest.
On Perpetual European Style Freshness, Mario2 focuses on the hyper-specific and the tragically overlooked, while also fearlessly tackling the major issues of our world. From 1990s sex education, to the deep existential confusion of realizing you are not actually a member of ABBA, to the brutal exploration of the disappointment of sharing your birthday with your pet, Mario2 has an opinion on it all.
